Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-2 Arsenal. 5 Things

 1.Saka’s Reward!
Saka’s undoubtedly been a bright spark in our otherwise dull season. He has shown of both his ability and his flexibility. Today the youngster looks to star at right wing, probably due to Pepe’s absence. The Ivorian had found some good recent form but misses the game to see the birth of his first child. Enough of an excuse? Maybe.
Arsenal's youngster has been outstanding, and it’s great to see him rewarded with a goal. The ball is switched out to Tierney on the left of the penalty box; he puts a cross in, but it’s deflected and bounces up to Saka. Side on, he swings his leg at it and casually guides the ball into the top corner. A lovely bicycle kick on the half-volley, which he made look so simple.

2. Pleasantly Surprised by Tierney
Although most Arsenal fans will pretend they knew Tierney’s qualities the very second he signed for the club, others will admit they had only heard opinions. We are now in game week 33, and the Scotsman has started just nine Premier League games. Regular injuries have played a significant part in his absences. Persistent injuries, at some point, create doubts that creep in regarding whether a player can perform at this level. There had been rumours he could be sold. Some fans would have been disappointed, but it’s hard to miss you never really had.
Happily, we are now seeing what all the hype was about. Over these last few games, we have seen what Tierney can bring to the team. He works hard, is rarely beaten, gets in great crossing positions and delivers well. His crosses will become more effective as his team mates learn to read him better. A couple of time tonight he put good balls in only to find no one making a run.

3. A Classic Lacazette Goal
Ah the Frenchman, what does the future hold? Because of the hectic schedule, there has been plenty of changes all over the pitch. Which makes it hard to judge exactly how Arteta rates his players. The “Was he dropped or was he rested?” conundrum. Nketiah’s rise enviably means someone will miss out.
The goal was a Lacazette’s trademark and a reminder of his qualities. Mustafi heads the ball out with authority. Lacazette hold the ball up and plays it to Willock, who goes on a run to the right flank and crosses low, back to the striker. He touches the ball round the defender and smashes it into the bottom far corner.

4.  Three in a Row
Southampton, Norwich City and now Wolves. It doesn’t sound amazing, but definitely feels like progress. There’s been times in our glorious history when those fixtures would have been a given, but in recent years it hasn’t been the case. In particular, our away form has regularly replicated relegation form.
Wolves are three points above us, and this was our first away win to a team above us since 2015. It was also our third clean sheet in the last four games. The team looked sturdy, well-position and comfortable; they looked like a team again.

5. What’s up Next?
Leicester, Tottenham and Liverpool! Bring ‘em on… Well, perhaps not as confident as that. On their own, the first two seem winnable and when you consider Liverpool have nothing to play for and just got thrashed 4-0 by City, it’s possible but very unlikely.
If City are banned from Champions League football, fifth place could be enough to qualify for the elite competition. For qualification, Arsenal need to better United by two wins in their last five games or better Chelsea by three wins in their last five games. Getting into the Europa League is much more achievable with Wolves now just three points above us. Yay!?

Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool. 5 Things

1.        Mane Goal Arsenal have been camped in their own half throughout the first 20 minutes or so. Liverpool were dominating play, but fans might have hoped the gunners could hold out and wait for their own moments. There have been games in the past where Liverpool have been two or three goals up by this point. So, being a goal down at 20 minutes in could be called progress. Liverpool have the right side to themselves as Firmino, Robinson and Wijnaldum shuffle the ball around between one another before releasing Robinson to the by-line. He cuts the ball back for Mane, who’s at the six-yard box for a simple tap-in. A well-worked goal that felt pretty inevitable.   2.        Three in Three for Lacazette! Apparently Arsenal need to buy their own Van Dijk. Based on this goal, we already have quite a few of them in the squad. Before the goal, Arsenal had begun to create at least some half chances. Lacazette gets the goal, and incredibly, this is his third goal in three games!

Arsenal 1-2 Wolves FiveThings

The Form The past five fixtures have seen Arsenal slog their way to four points out of possible fifteen. It’s certainly not champion’s league form.  The defence is no longer a shambles, but unfortunately the attack is mirroring their solid, stingy play. Cup competitions have given us slightly more joy. Can we progress for beating the minors of Europa League to beating genuine Premier League opposition? Tonight, we take on a Wolves side that have won three and draw one of their last five games. The defensively solid, counter-attacking team have established themselves as a quality Premier League team over the relatively short time they have been in the top division. Gabriel 30 Minutes The centre back has been a nice addition to the team. He’s strong, fast, and imposes himself on games. William has been less impressive, but tonight he is able make his first goal contribution since the first game of the season. In what, strictly speaking, is the first time Arsenal have scored in open pla

5 Things Arsenal History

Facts about Arsenal, which should score you some points in your local AFC pub quiz.    The Names   The older generation may be well aware, but some younger fans should be forgiven if they are unaware that The mighty Gooners were not always called Arsenal F.C. The club was originally known as Dial Square, when the club was formed by workers at the Woolwich armaments factory in 1886. Later, the name was changed to Royal Arsenal before becoming Woolwich Arsenal when the team turned professional in 1891. In 1914 they were known as The Arsenal, and the final transformation in 1919 saw the club be officially named as Arsenal F.C.     The Grounds   The world has come a long way in the last hundred years, so it's not surprising most football clubs have had or used several different grounds in their lifetime. Arsenal's grounds include south London locations like Plumstead Common, which is more of a recreational park, and Manor Ground stadium, where they played for twenty-t
